Choral counting with money, and why it's not just skip-counting

Counting coins uses the same accumulate-and-never-erase routine as counting numbers, but money adds a real wrinkle: coin values don't match place value the way ones, tens, and hundreds do. A dime is worth more than a nickel but is physically smaller, and five pennies make a nickel without any regrouping the way ten ones regroup into a ten-rod. Stick to one denomination at a time so the count-by pattern itself, 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25, 50, 75, 100, stays the focus before you ever mix coins together. Count forward and backward from any start value, not just zero. Ask "how much would we have with one more?" instead of racing for the total.
